INSURANCE COUNSELING (MEDICARE/MEDICAID/OBAMACARE):
UCC provides free counseling for community members looking to sign up for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”). Certified application counselors are on hand during all weekly UCC clinics to help people learn about their options for obtaining insurance and insurance subsidies under Obamacare. We can also help sign you up for other social benefits, such as food stamps. No appointment necessary to see a counselor — just come in any Monday night when clinic is open.
UCC social work volunteers help patients access vital community resources. The social work team provides referrals to physical health and mental health resources, housing and utility services, crisis intervention, and many other services as needed by patients.
UCC Dental volunteers perform head and neck exams, including an oral cancer screening. In addition, patients receive tips on brushing and flossing and are given a free toothbrush, floss, and toothpaste. We also answer questions about different treatment options and help address specific dental concerns that patients may have. Lastly, we help patients find an affordable dental provider that is best suited for their needs.
